Are You Afraid and Depressed?
Managing your Fears and Depression as a Woman
“For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and self-control.”
2nd Timothy 2:7 (WEB)
As a woman, do you feel depressed, fearful, have anxiety, and do not know how to go about managing your feelings. You are at the point where you are simply overwhelmed and do not know what to do. You know or have read a lot of books and articles on the subject, and it is making you even more confused, anxious, and fearful. You tried the world’s way and now I am going to recommend you try God’s way.
Fear not is mentioned in the bible 365 times and fear itself is mentioned over 500 times.
What I would like to recommend is that you pick up a bible and write down at a minimum 5 of your favorite versus on fear, anxiety, and depression. I would read the versus daily until you know them by heart and when you feel anxious or fearful recite them aloud. The reason I would do this is because as the bible says, fear, anxiety and depression are the trick of the devil who comes to steal, kill, and destroy. When you quote scriptures, he cannot stand it and will flee.
Do not get me wrong. We all have fears and anxieties, even Jesus followers had fears, but the key is to not let your fears and depression cheat you out of the life you deserve.
For example: The doctor tells you, you have stage 4 breast cancer and have only a few months to live. You are depressed give up and stop living only to realize that God gave you another 30 years which you wasted thinking your life was over. So sad.
So, what else can you do about the situation? When you feel yourself becoming anxious and depressed, do not dwell on it. Force yourself to do something positive. Go for a walk, read an enjoyable book, put on your favorite music while you take a hot bubble bath. Another thing I would do is to write down and memorize some positive affirmations.
The more you deal with your fears and depression head on with the help of Our Heavenly Father, the better you will become in managing your fear, anxiety, and depression.
